Best Waterfront Walks and Trails in South Surrey & White Rock

One of the things we hear most often from clients moving to this area is how much the waterfront changes their day-to-day life. As South Surrey and White Rock realtors, we've walked most of these routes more times than we can count, so here are our favourites.

The White Rock Promenade

The Promenade is the obvious starting point, a flat, paved walkway that runs along White Rock's entire waterfront, past the pier, restaurants, and the beach itself. It's busy on a sunny weekend and peaceful on a quiet weekday morning, and it works equally well for a brisk walk, a slow stroll, or pushing a stroller.

The White Rock Pier

No waterfront walk here is complete without a trip out onto the pier itself. It's one of the longest wooden piers in Canada, and walking to the end for the view back at the town and the water is worth doing regardless of how many times you've done it before.

Kwomais Point Park

A bit further along the coast, Kwomais Point offers a quieter, more residential feel with sweeping views over Semiahmoo Bay. It's less crowded than the main Promenade, which makes it a favourite for people who want the water view without the summer foot traffic.

Crescent Beach

Crescent Beach, at the western edge of South Surrey, offers a different kind of waterfront experience: sandy beach, a laid-back village feel, and walking trails that wind along the shoreline and through the surrounding area. It has a slower, more low-key pace than the White Rock waterfront.

Peace Arch Park

While technically at the border crossing rather than directly on the water, Peace Arch Park is a short trip from White Rock and offers expansive green space, gardens, and walking paths that make for a nice change of pace from a purely beachfront walk.

Semiahmoo Trail and Surrounding Green Space

Beyond the waterfront itself, the broader Semiahmoo Peninsula has a network of trails and green spaces connecting neighbourhood parks throughout South Surrey, useful for anyone who wants a walk that isn't right on the beach but still has a coastal feel.

Why This Matters If You're House Hunting

Proximity to the waterfront is one of the most consistent priorities we hear from buyers looking in this area, and for good reason. Being a five-minute walk from the Promenade versus a fifteen-minute drive genuinely changes how often you actually use it. If walkable access to the water matters to you, it's worth telling your realtor early so it can shape the search from the start.
