We get asked for coffee recommendations almost as often as we get asked about listings, so we figured it was time to actually write it down. As South Surrey and White Rock realtors, here are some of our favourite local cafes, none of them chains, all of them worth the trip.
Islands Café
With locations in White Rock, Grandview Corners, Ocean Park, and another in South Surrey, Islands Café brings a genuine taste of Hawaii to the Semiahmoo Peninsula. Their coffee is roasted from Maui and Kona grown beans, and their acai bowls and poke bowls have built a loyal following. The beach-and-surfboard decor makes it an easy, breezy stop whatever the weather is doing outside.
Dudes Coffee House
Tucked in near Crescent Beach, Dudes Coffee House has been a small, family-run local favourite since 2014. They're known for organic coffee, weekend brunch, and dim sum on Fridays through Sundays, along with their well-loved butter truffle croissants. It's the kind of cozy, unpretentious spot that regulars keep coming back to.
The Sunflower Cafe
Also near Crescent Beach, The Sunflower Cafe has a laid-back, community feel with a menu built around simple, home-cooked lunch fare: soups, fresh sandwiches, and baked goods, best enjoyed at one of their outdoor tables on a sunny day before or after a walk on the beach.
Grounds & Greens Café
Located on Johnston Road in White Rock, Grounds & Greens is the area's dedicated plant-based cafe, opened by a husband-and-wife team of former professional chefs. Even non-vegan visitors consistently rave about the food here, from their breakfast bowls to their baked goods.
Caffè Artigiano
A well-known Vancouver coffee institution, Caffè Artigiano's White Rock location on Johnston Road brings hand-pulled espresso and signature latte art to Uptown. It's a solid pick whether you want a serious coffee or just a good spot to sit and people-watch.
Bean & Berry Café
One of the newest additions to White Rock's waterfront, Bean & Berry started as a beloved food cart at Memorial Park known for chocolate-covered strawberries, and has since opened a full storefront on Vidal Street, right across from the West Beach Parkade. Cozy vibes, handcrafted coffee, and their signature treats make it an easy new favourite.
